Webinar on the topic Talk on Indigenous Philosophy
The Department
of Philosophy, conducted a webinar on the topic Talk on Indigenous Philosophy
under the banner The Thinking Hat Talk-II
of the talk series with Dr. Karilemla who serve as an Assistant Professor in
the Department of Philosophy at Savitribai Phule Pune University as the Guest
Speaker.
The paper
presenter focussed on her aim to carve out a space for the multiplicity of
cultural worldviews in the terms of philosophy itself. In particular she talked
about her interest in those traditions i.e. indigenous/tribal philosophy
overrun by the dominant traditions. In her argument she also drew primarily on
Martin Heidegger’s philosophy to show that he was the first to open up a philosophically
legible and respectable path beyond the monistic singularity of a single
intellectual tradition from within western philosophy’s own logos, without
plunging into the mire of hopeless relativism and perspectivism.
The session was
moderated by Dr. Bendanginla, Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy.
The enlightening talk ended after a short disquisition. All together around
fifty faculty actively participated in the webinar.
