RULES
FOR ELECTION TO THE FAZL ALI COLLEGE STUDENTS’ UNION
FOR
2024-25 SESSION
In accordance with
the provision of the FACSU Constitution, it is hereby notified that the
following directives will be strictly adhered to for the ensuing FACSU Election
scheduled on 30th August, 2024.
The
Election shall be conducted in two phases. The first phase will be for the
election to the General Council of FACSU and the second phase will be for the
selection to the Executive Council of FACSU.
Phase I: For General Council of FACSU
1.
There will be no filing of
nomination papers for Class Representative (CR) election. Hence, all students
become automatically a Candidate for Class Representative.
2.
Each student shall cast his/her
vote for candidates that he/she thinks are best to represent their Class.
3.
The names of the student shall
not be mentioned in the ballot papers but the voter shall indicate his/her
preference by writing the Roll Number(s) of the candidate of his/her choice in
the appropriate space. The same Roll Number should not be repeated, otherwise
it will be considered as invalid.
4.
The following will be the
number of class representatives from the various classes for the FACSU Election
2024.

5.
As per Article 6, Section 3 of
the FACSU Constitution, each student shall cast his/her vote for the candidates
as per the number of Class Representatives listed in Table 1 above.
6.
After the last vote is cast,
counting for each class shall commence immediately.
7.
In case of classes where
polling is held in more than one room, the votes tally from each room shall be
added up to get the final figure.
8.
In case of a tie, the President
of FACSU (Principal) shall cast the deciding vote.
Phase II: For Executive Council
1.
The elected Class
Representatives will fill up a Bond (form) where he/she shall indicate his/her
preference for the Executive Posts. This shall be done with absolute privacy (3
preferences compulsory)
2.
The elected Class
Representatives shall face an interview board of the Screening Committee which
will select the best candidates for the different executive posts.
3.
The Screening process and
selection to the Executive Council shall be done on the basis of the provisions
given under Article 18 Section II of the Constitution. (Academic and Class
attendance Record-30 marks; Personal quality/interview-70 marks)
4.
The Executive Council will
consist of the following posts. The eligibility to each post is given below.

General Instruction
i.
Only students possessing valid
Identity card/Library card will be allowed to enter the College Campus on 30th
August, 2024. Identity card/Library card will have to be produced at the time
of casting votes which will be returned after verification by the polling
officers.
ii.
In case a Class Representative
is elected in absentia, he/she will NOT
be eligible to file nominations for the Phase II Executive Council. But he/she
will remain as a Class Representative.
iii.
No students will be allowed to
enter the classroom once the voting commences.
iv.
Casting of votes will be done
through secret ballot. Each voter should write the roll number of the
candidates he/she votes for.
v.
A voter cannot vote for more
than the allotted number of Class Representatives in their respective classes.
Such votes will be declared invalid.
vi.
A student found indulging in
malpractice of any form shall be disqualified.
vii.
All Students must come in
proper College Uniform.
viii.
Any outgoing General/Executive
Council member will be eligible for re-election to the General/Executive
Council subject to item no. 4, Table 2 above. However, any General/Executive
Council member who ceases to be a member of the General/Executive Council under
Article 11 section I & II of the FACSU Constitution will not be eligible
for re-election.
ix.
The President of FACSU
(Principal) will nominate any eligible student to the vacant posts if any, at a
later date.
x.
Any complaint must be lodged
before the lapse of half an hour after a decision is given by the Election
Committee.
xi.
Students are strictly not allowed
to hold any gatherings or meetings during the process of or after the election.
If any group or individuals are found violating the order, the defaulters will
be seriously dealt with.
xii.
In the event of any disputes or
complaints, the decision of the Election Committee will be final and binding.
