Fazl Ali College in collaboration with Government Polytechnic Mokokchung organised a Faculty Development Programme on ‘AI Tools Training for Teachers’ on 28th September at FAC conference hall. The program aimed at familiarizing the teachers with the growing role of AI in education and to equip them with practical knowledge and skills to use AI tools effectively and responsibly in educational environment. The Principal of FAC Dr. I Wati Imchen calls the programme as the beginning of an unending dialogue on AI, a training much desired for the teachers in a time when AI is dominating the educational environment.
Five Sessions were conducted by Resource Persons from Government Polytechnic Mokokchung, Er. Ngangsham N Chemdok, Er. Neisakienuo Nelly Yhome, Er. Benjamin Chophy, and Er. Azhove Tetseo accompanied by the Principal Er. Lanusenla Longkumer.
The major objectives of the training programme includes introducing teachers to the basic concepts and applications of Artificial Intelligence in education, familiarising participants with commonly used AI tools and platforms, demonstrating on how AI can support lesson planning and preparation of teaching-learning materials, to develop teachers’ skills in writing effective prompts for AI-based tools, to explore the use of AI for creating presentations and other educational resources, to discuss the opportunities and limitations associated with the use of AI in education, and to promote a responsible, ethical, and academically appropriate use of AI tools.
An intensive hands on training was conducted where the teaching faculty was trained to enhance their digital competencies. The training encouraged educators to approach Artificial Intelligence critically and responsibly. It also reinforced the importance of combining technological tools with teachers’ subject expertise, creativity, professional judgement, and commitment to meaningful learning. The Programme was led by Bendangsenla, Assoc. Professor & IQAC Co-ordinator.
