Best practice of the department :

  • The department organizes student participation in literary and dramatic competitions and presentations.
  • The department launched QUILL- a literary magazine, and COLBUZZ- a students’ bulletin, which are outlets providing a platform for students to engage in creative writing (including imaginative expression through cartoons and paintings), to develop reading and writing skills, to enrich their understanding of diverse literatures written in English. This activity also promotes team work and leadership skills.
  • Periodical rotation of papers among faculty members which are taught by a sole teacher.
  • Mentoring English Honours students and monitoring their academic progress every semester. Conducting intensive and continuous internal assessment of general, elective and honours students.
  • The Department has been staging a play every year to commemorate the College Foundation Day since 2017.
  • The strength of the department lies in the use of personal resources like their creative skills, use of IT gadgets to engage in the classroom.
  • Department helped in organising the “September Melange” I & II.
